Expansion of joint venture for folding cartons and corrugated board

Koenig & Bauer and the Durst Group have decided to build up further research and development capacities for their joint venture.

Five years ago, Koenig & Bauer and the Durst Group founded a joint venture. The two companies have now decided to build up further research and development capacities for the folding carton and corrugated board sectors.

Koenig & Bauer Durst utilises the expertise and know-how of the two parent companies to offer a portfolio of digital printing presses. These include the CorruJET and Delta SPC 130 for the corrugated board market and the jointly developed VariJET 106 printing machine for the folding carton market. The systems use water-based, food-safe printing inks and coatings that fulfil all legal requirements.

Building on the initial foundations, we are expanding capacities at our research and development centre in Radebeul, the headquarters of Koenig & Bauer's Sheetfed division. Robert Stabler, who has headed the joint venture since it was founded, is handing over the role of Managing Director to Daniel Velema as of February 2024. Daniel Velema has gained extensive industry experience in the printing industry and management consulting in various management positions. Most recently, he was General Manager of the prepress activities at XSYS Global, a leading supplier of printing plates, sleeves and prepress equipment for the packaging industry.
