Following the Jokey Group's cooperation with WWF Germany last summer, the company's sustainability strategy has now been revised in joint working groups. The expanded strategy is being implemented step by step in the 15 plants.
At the end of April, a comprehensive strategy paper entitled „The Future beyond Tomorrow - our sustainability course up to 2030“ was distributed across all countries. Jokey-plants. In addition to the Eco Concept, which is now in its third generation, it also contains specific targets for sustainable orientation in all relevant fields of action. When reviewing the sustainability strategy with the WWF The need for further action was identified and short, medium and long-term targets were defined. With the sustainability programme, the Jokey Eco Concept 3.0, and the Sustainability Course 2030, the company aims to set further milestones on the path to climate neutrality in order to achieve the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement in the long term.
„Every year, Earth Overshoot Day moves further forward. By 29 July 2021, humanity had already used up the Earth's natural resources, which can be restored within a year. Jokey is committed to transformation, which is urgently needed due to advancing climate change, dwindling resources and a decline in biodiversity. We are pursuing ambitious goals with our sustainability strategy. We want to set the course now and take all employees and stakeholders along the value chain with us on our transformative journey.“

We must now systematically and consistently continue to reduce our footprint in order to leave a habitable planet for future generations.“
Michael Schmitz, Sustainability Officer of the Jokey Group
By 2030, the company aims to maximise its circularity, both in terms of the products and services required for the materials used in the manufacture of packaging as well as for all auxiliary and operating materials used. With the strategy paper now rolled out, all employees are also called upon to actively develop the sustainability goals in their day-to-day work in the key areas of energy and climate, materials and resources, waste and littering, team culture and biodiversity and to find creative ways of implementing them.
