K 2019 reports high willingness to invest

K 2019 came to an end after eight days on 23 October 2019 in Düsseldorf. The final report provides details on innovations and the course of the trade fair.

K, the world's leading trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, came to an end after eight days on Wednesday (23 October 2019) in Düsseldorf.

The 3,333 exhibitors from 63 nations proved that plastic is still an important Innovative, indispensable and forward-looking material. However, they also unanimously emphasised the need for a functioning circular economy along the entire recycling chain and presented concrete solutions for this. In doing so, they had their finger on the pulse of the times, because the Around 225,000 visitors from 165 countries showed great interest in particular in recycling systems, sustainable raw materials and resource-conserving processes.

In addition, K 2019 continued to be characterised by a high level of willingness to invest, and the intention of the international trade visitors to optimally position themselves for the future with the latest technologies was clearly noticeable.

„K 2019 came at exactly the right time. The high level of interest from all over the world underlines its enormous importance for the industry. Nowhere else is it represented as internationally and cohesively as every three years in Düsseldorf,“ states Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, Chairman of the Board of Management, Messe Düsseldorf.

The countries with the highest number of visitors after Germany were Italy, the Netherlands, India, Turkey and China, followed directly by the USA. There was also a significant increase in the number of trade visitors from the Russian Federation, Japan and Brazil. The number of executives among the K visitors increased slightly once again: Around 68 per cent belonged to top management and middle management.

In terms of visitor satisfaction, the over 90 per cent once again achieved a top result. While increasing efficiency was the most important topic for the German trade public at the moment, the Expansion of the product range for European and non-European trade fair visitors.

„The plastics and rubber industry was once again able to demonstrate that plastic is not only a very valuable material with outstanding properties, but that the industry also assumes responsibility along the entire value chain. The buzzwords of K 2019 „Reflect. Rethink. Lateral thinking. Rethink“ were reflected 1:1 at the exhibitor stands,“ said Ulrich Reifenhäuser, Chairman of the K 2019 Exhibitor Advisory Board, who was delighted with how K 2019 went.

K once again scored highly as a premiere platform, where many pioneering products and applications were presented to the global public for the first time. The innovations were not only marvelled at, but many concrete negotiations were also conducted and contracts signed.

„We have seen an extremely high willingness to invest across all nations. New customer business in particular was extremely pleasing this year. We are very confident that we will also see strong post-fair business,“ says Tyre houses.
