The announced change in management has been completed at the Association of Solid Board Cartons (VVK). Thomas Pfeiffer, Managing Director for many years, retired on 1 February and handed over operational responsibility to his successor Karsten Hunger.

The 41-year-old Managing Director of the Industrial Association for Paper and Film Packaging (IPV) will take over the management of the VVK in addition to his duties for the IPV and other associations in the industry.

Thomas Pfeiffer, who has been at the helm of the VVK since 1991, expressly welcomes this step: „A stronger concentration of the voices of the packaging industry is helpful in order to actively shape the future of the industry and to continue to effectively bring our concerns into the political and social discourse.“

The general meetings of both associations have agreed to the personnel union and, by combining the operational work under one roof, a viable solution for the future challenges of the members has been created. The decision to merge the management of the two associations is a response to structural necessities in the association sector, in particular consolidation trends and generational change.

Combining forces in the association sector

Karsten Hunger will therefore act as the contact person for a total of five associations in future and thanks the members for their trust: „The IPV, GemPSI, FHR and ECTA associations are already benefiting from the pooling of resources and the advantages of a joint office. Last year, we also moved into a shared office address with the Folding Carton Association FFI and the Display Working Group in order to utilise synergies more effectively and intensify cooperation. These tangible benefits will also have a significant impact in the future.“
