Kaufland works together with FairCup

At all Kaufland service counters, customers can have their goods filled into reusable containers from the „FairCup“ start-up.

At all Kaufland service counters, customers can have their goods filled into the reusable containers from the „FairCup“ start-up and thus save on plastic packaging. The FairCups can then be returned via the reverse vending machines.

The system is very simple: at the service counters of all Kaufland shops, customers can have their purchases, such as antipasti, creams, minced meat or cream cheese, filled into the FairCups and pay for them a one-off deposit of 1.50 euros per FairCup with lid.

„In all our shops, we replace plastic packaging wherever it makes sense. Our collaboration with FairCup is another step towards making it even easier for our customers to save on packaging, as the FairCups can be conveniently borrowed directly from the counter.“

After use, the FairCups are then returned to the reverse vending machine with lids and are thus returned to the FairCup reusable cycle, because the reusable cup can be rinsed and reused up to a thousand times. The same applies to the lids, which are also suitable for all cup sizes. As the cups are not printed, they can also be returned to granulate and fully recycled afterwards.

„Responsible use of resources is the driving idea behind FairCup. Our aim is therefore to show as many customers as possible that reducing packaging in everyday life can be very easy. In Kaufland, we have found the ideal partner for this, with whom we can inspire many people across Germany every day to act sustainably with FairCup.“

Sybille Meyer, Managing Director of FairCup
