The Klingele Paper & Packaging Group has signed an agreement with Klabin S. A. to purchase the kraftliner paper mill in Nova Campina in the state of São Paolo, thereby entering the market for kraftliner paper made from virgin fibre.
Klabin is the largest producer of paper and corrugated board packaging in Brazil. In March, the company signed a contract with the American manufacturer International Paper for the production of corrugated board. Acquisition of the paper mill as a package together with six other production facilities closed. The current transaction between Klabin and Klingele is subject to approval of Klabin's previous acquisition of International Paper by the Brazilian competition authority.
Nova Campina presents Fresh fibre papers made from eucalyptus and pine wood which comes from FSC-certified plantations in the vicinity of the paper mill. Fresh fibre papers are particularly suitable for direct contact with food. They are also ideal for high-quality printing and for packaging chilled products.
This strategic move will improve the supply of raw materials to the Klingele Group and Blue Box Partners. Blue Box Partners is a European alliance for packaging solutions, of which Klingele is a founding member.
