The Klingele Paper & Packaging Group is establishing a research centre for artificial intelligence (AI) in order to analyse and exploit its potential for the packaging industry.
With the establishment of the AI Research Hub, Klingele is focussing on digital transformation and technological development. The aim is to identify and implement AI applications in internal and external company processes.
„Artificial intelligence is a key topic for the future success of our industry. With the AI Research Hub, we want to quickly create significant benefits for our customers.“

Research and development with partners
The new research centre is headed by Florian Härer, who acts as an interface between innovation management, corporate IT and strategy. A comprehensive AI report is to be produced by May 2025, which will define specific potential applications.
One example of existing initiatives is an AI-based platform for knowledge-based service consulting, which was developed together with the University of Stuttgart.
Contribution to the digital transformation
The AI Research Hub pursues several goals:
- Optimisation of internal processes through automation
- Digital transformation of existing business models
- Further development of employees in the area of AI technologies
„AI technology is now so advanced that we want to use it for complex and time-consuming tasks. The AI Research Hub gives us the space we need to introduce AI in a targeted manner,“ says Florian Härer.
