KOCH Pac-Systeme celebrated the premiere of its first virtual trade fair on 16 June 2020. The special-purpose machine manufacturer is now taking stock of its KOCHlive.

The postponement of interpack 2020 had thrown the company's timetable slightly out of sync. Among other things, the product launch of a new blister machine for the pharmaceutical sector, the KBS-C, was planned for interpack. The machine strengthens the machine manufacturer's portfolio in the field of medical technology, as Markus Böhringer, head of the medical technology market application field, explains. The machine can at least be experienced virtually in live operation via KOCHlive.

KOCHlive 2020: Sustainability and service

The event, which was held in German and English, achieved a high international reach. Of the more than 600 guests worldwide, numerous registrations came from Asia. The majority of visitors were interested in Sustainable packaging solutions. The main focus here was on the company's innovative technologies for mouldable paper and bio-based films. There was also particular demand for the K 4.0 smartpacks, the new services offered by the special machine manufacturer. They can be customised to meet individual customer requirements. And they make it possible to recognise and exploit further potential for added value. For example, unplanned downtimes can be reduced and maintenance costs lowered.

KOCHlive scores with a personal touch

Registration for KOCHlive was deliberately designed to be uncomplicated. Hartmut Diehl, Director Global Sales, welcomed the visitors personally. He invited them to take a tour of the virtual showroom to experience ‘A new Dimension in Packaging’, the motto of the event. Set up like a classic trade fair presentation, visitors were provided with extensive information material at each virtual station. Experts presented machines, products or services in the video, and various contacts were available to answer questions live. The KOCHlive can still be visited.

Forward-looking concept

The virtual trade fair was also a success within the company. Cohesion and team spirit during the coronavirus crisis. This is one of the reasons why the KOCHlive concept is to be further developed. For example, the format will be adapted for the upcoming virtual Career information day adapted in July 2020.

Nevertheless, KOCH is convinced that the personal exchange cannot be completely replaced by digital media. Participation in normal trade fairs will continue. „Ultimately, it's the good mix of both that makes the difference,“ explains Head of Marketing Jörg Schebetka.
