Koch Pac-Systeme GmbH has reason to celebrate: the „easyControl“ HMI control panel has won over the jury of the prestigious international Red Dot design award.

The award-winning control panel was developed in collaboration with CaderaDesign GmbH and supports operators, setters, commissioning engineers and other user roles in their joint task of automated mass packaging of products. Due to the high design quality and creative performance of the concept, the jurors presented the coveted Red Dot Award in the „Brands & Communication Design 2019“ category.

Optimisations for a simple operating process

An increasing number of packaging variants and individual customer requirements lead to high and complex demands on systems in the packaging industry: flexible machine operation; dynamic and smooth material and production flow; accelerated configuration.

In order to fulfil these requirements, a Optimised software solution indispensable. Koch Pac-Systeme and CaderaDesign therefore set themselves the task of revising the existing user interface of the HMI control panel.

Customised, depending on the user level, Configurable dashboards form the introduction to the HMI and provide an overview of the most important machine data. Comprehensive task and user-orientation and intelligent assistance systems are the basis for the rapid elimination of faults and ensure that the machine is always ready for operation. High process reliability the user. The interface can be operated across all devices thanks to responsive development in HTML5.

One Central machine visualisation is used to navigate through the system and enables controlled adjustments to machine components. The amount of information is reduced to the essentials, keeping attention focussed. Operation is simple and efficient.

The panel was also redesigned in a parallel design process. The hardware and software are closely coordinated with each other, merging to create a harmonious appearance and ensuring a very attractive appearance. Good user experience in the complete operating process.

The Red Dot for good design

The Red Dot Design Award was established in 1955 and is now one of the largest design competitions in the world with over 18,000 entries. The „Brand & Communication“ category, in which the Koch „easyControl“ panel was also honoured, has been awarding prizes since 1993. Since then, the coveted „Red Dot“ award has been the internationally recognised seal of outstanding design quality.

„The new HMI operating panel fulfils exactly the attributes we wanted in terms of design and user convenience. We can already see from current customer projects that we are living up to our role as a pioneer of digital expertise in packaging machine construction. Many thanks to Cadera Design for the excellent collaboration.
