W. Köpp GmbH now processes production surpluses from the manufacture of polyethylene foam into sustainable packaging material in its own plants. An asset deal with Arnold GmbH made this possible: Köpp took over their machines and expertise for the production of polyethylene chips and has thus not only expanded its portfolio, but also closed the production cycle 100 per cent.
The Aachen-based specialists for the production of cellular rubber, polyethylene foam and sponge rubber and Zornheim-based Arnold GmbH, which specialises in upcycling production surpluses from polyethylene production, have known each other for many years. „We didn't have to think twice when the opportunity arose to take over Arnold's production facilities for the manufacture of PE fillers,“ explain Managing Director Achim Raab and Sales Manager Axel Wynands. In the spirit of the „Hand-in-Hand with Nature“ project The company now feeds 100 per cent of its production surpluses into its own production cycle. Köpp is also expanding its portfolio for the packaging industry with high-quality and sustainable packaging that ensures the safe protection of sensitive goods.
The basis for the production of the narrow PE strips are production surpluses from the in-house production of polyethylene foam. The material combines properties that make it the ideal packaging solution. The fine-pored closed-cell foam is free from harmful substances and is therefore even suitable for use in the food industry. It acts like a Permanently elastic air cushion and ensures that neither shocks nor vibrations are transmitted to the goods during transport. The filler does not absorb water and therefore prevents the formation of rust. It can also be used several times without any problems. The economical use of materials also makes it particularly environmentally friendly.
„We are convinced of our products and are very pleased that we have found a partner in Köpp who can fulfil our requirements. sustainable filling foams in the future in the usual quality and reliably supply our extensive customer base,“ says Managing Director Dipl.-Ing. Sabine Schneider on the closure of the business for personal reasons. Arnold GmbH was founded by her father in 1969. As a successful family business, the company has been managed by Sabine Schneider in the second generation until now.
