KraussMaffei and NETSTAL are pooling their expertise in injection moulding technology under the joint corporate brand ‚KraussMaffei‘ . Together, they are primarily targeting the medical technology and packaging sectors.

„Under the strong joint brand ‚KraussMaffei' we are pooling our injection moulding expertise from all application areas and will drive the injection moulding world forward more than ever in future - true to our new joint motto: Pioneering Plastics,“ explains Hans-Ulrich Golz, President of the Injection Moulding Machinery segment at KraussMaffei.
The familiar machine series (PX, CX, GX, MX from KraussMaffei and ELION, ELIOS, PET-LINE from NETSTAL) and the production sites will remain unchanged. The new sales organisation will organised by economic region, This means that every customer has just one contact person who provides comprehensive support. Regional branches and trading partners create greater customer proximity and increase the speed of response for urgent matters.
„The joint global and area-based sales organisation is an important milestone in further strengthening our proximity to our customers and markets and thus being the partner that can always offer our customers the right solution to make their business more successful,“ adds Tobias Daniel, Vice-President Sales IMM at KraussMaffei.

Growth opportunities for packaging and medical technology
With what the company believes to be a perfectly complementary portfolio, the company sees the following areas Packaging and medical technology.
„In the packaging sector, we offer our customers a range that is unique in the industry - from the NETSTAL ELIOS and ELION high-performance high-speed machines for thin-wall packaging to solutions for large logistics items such as transport boxes or pallets. This is where the GX and MX series from KraussMaffei come into their own,“ says Golz.
The Trade fair exhibits at the K in Düsseldorf are intended to illustrate this objective. A GX 1100, which extends the clamping force range of the GX series upwards and is being launched here, produces buckets with a capacity of 20 litres and decoration using the in-mould labelling (IML) process. With a shot weight of around 1500 g (in two cavities) and a cycle time of 14 seconds, the application illustrates the strength of the GX in the heavyweight range, while the neighbouring NETSTAL ELIOS 4500 produces six round trays with IML decoration (weight 250 g) in cycle times of less than 3.5 seconds.
„In the spirit of the circular economy, we use certified renewable polypropylene for this thin-wall packaging,“ adds Golz.
In medical technology, the NETSTAL ELION 800 high-speed machine also focuses on output quantity and maximum precision. Under clean room conditions, 16 syringes are produced from cyclic olefin copolymer (COC). Error-free compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice is ensured with Smart Operation for the aXos control system. Digital inline printing of the syringe barrel is a new feature. Manufacturers benefit from lower logistical costs and reduced risk in the process and logistics chain.
The smallest all-electric PX 25 with a clamping force of 250 kN, on the other hand, demonstrates highly demanding medical micro injection moulding with liquid silicone (LSR). A micro-membrane with a shot weight of just 0.3 g (8 times) is produced in a cycle time of 14 seconds. A screw just 12 mm thick was even developed for the smallest shot weights. The APC plus machine function also shows its strengths in this micro injection moulding application with LSR and ensures high shot weight consistency and therefore consistent component quality.
The fact that both machines have a Cleanroom equipmentg , which includes surfaces that are particularly easy to clean and suitable for cleanrooms, for example. The range also includes digital services for process improvement and the collection and analysis of data.
