The Krones Group has decided to cease its activities in the field of digital decoration of bottles and containers. The subsidiary Dekron GmbH will be dissolved on 31 December 2023 and the site in Kelkheim will be closed.
Krones is discontinuing its digital container decoration division. Although the subsidiary Dekron GmbH is successfully supplying customers on the market, this decision has now been taken. after a careful review of the business strategy and the current market situation. Dekron informed its employees, customers, suppliers and business partners back in November. The Krones AG service team will take over full support of the existing systems from 2024.
Dekron GmbH developed and built the DecoType machine series from 2018 for the digital decoration of glass, PET and HDPE containers. The matching UV ink was supplied by Krones' subsidiary KIC Krones. Krones bundled its own development activities and the business of Till GmbH, in which the Group already held a majority stake from 2014, in Dekron. As a result of the discontinuation of business activities, Dekron GmbH will also be dissolved as of 31 December 2023 and the site in Kelkheim closed. A reconciliation of interests has already been negotiated with all employees.
