The Rudolf Diesel Medal has been awarded by the German Institute for Inventions as an innovation prize to companies and business personalities since 1953. This year, Kurt Schmalz, Managing Partner of J. Schmalz GmbH, was honoured with the medal in the category "Most Sustainable Innovation Achievement". The event took place in the halls of Rudolf Diesel's early patron, the MAN Museum in Augsburg, as part of a gala dinner.
"I am incredibly happy and proud," says Kurt Schmalz. "This award is a confirmation of our innovation work and an honour for the entire team. I would therefore like to dedicate this medal to all Schmalz employees worldwide."

"The creative restlessness in me and the entire company has been rewarded," says Kurt Schmalz, for whom sustainability was already an important topic in the 1980s, long before it became a global issue. "The Rudolf Diesel Medal is the highest honour par excellence for innovation. I am therefore very grateful to have received this award."
