This year's edition of Labelexpo Europe (16 to 19 September in Barcelona) will focus on sustainable packaging solutions, the influence of the EU packaging regulation (PPWR) and technological change through AI and automation. The trade fair is thus responding to the increasing demands for environmental compatibility and digitalisation in the industry.
The European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is having a profound impact on materials, manufacturing processes and compliance strategies. Labelexpo Europe 2025 takes this development into account and offers a programme with keynotes and daily presentations in the Pulse Arena (Hall 7 - Stand 7B27). Among other things, the programme will address the question, how label converters can benefit from diversification into flexible packaging and folding cartons. Visitors can also take a look into the future of AI and automation.
According to Andy Thomas-Emans, Strategic Director of the Labelexpo Global Series, automation and the switch to paper and fibre-based materials are opening up new opportunities for the industry. Trends such as Technical coatings for the production of recyclable monomaterials are increasingly replacing composite materials. The aim is to strengthen the industry with forward-looking impulses.
Circular economy in trade fair operations
In addition to the focus on content, Labelexpo also pursues a sustainable approach to event organisation. As part of the group-wide Better Stands Programme of Informa Group PLC, the Exhibition stands reused, waste reduced and renewable energies utilised.
For the first time, the trade fair is cooperating with the Romanian recycling company DMP Europe. Together with the partners Celab and Finat label waste is collected on site and converted into recyclable products such as pallets and bumpers. Operations Director Claire Sacker emphasises the special feature of the concept: the recycled material is completely reusable - a closed-loop systemLabelexpo Europe 2025.
According to Jade Grace, Managing Director of the Labelexpo Global Series, this year's event is not only the largest of its kind to date, but also sends out a clear message: „Innovation and sustainability are not abstract concepts, but rather Concrete, profitable fields of action - crucial for the future of our industry.“
