Laminated paper cores are in vogue as a form of packaging and offer an alternative to boxes. Packaging manufacturer Brandt Hülsen has been producing them since 2018 and is experiencing increasing demand.
„Laminated cardboard cores have been on the rise for two or three years and are increasingly competing with plastic and synthetic cores.“ Michael Heintschel, owner of the Heintschel Marken GmbH agency from Freising near Munich.
This form of packaging is currently in vogue, as manufacturers are always looking for the Distinctiveness of your products endeavours. In the recent past, many have been looking for alternatives to a box. Laminated cardboard sleeves offer solutions that are both eye-catching and easy to implement. Especially the untreated material, the Natural look, is currently a popular way of signalling environmental awareness and sustainability.
Increasing demand for laminated cores
With Brandt Hülsen in Oberleichtersbach laminated cores have been produced regularly since 2018, and demand is increasing.
„We are noticing that more and more customers are looking for elegant and unusual packaging for their product and the feedback shows that our laminated sleeves are increasing their market value and raising their profile.“ Ilona Brandt, junior manager of the family business from the Bavarian Rhön.
Many consumers do not simply dispose of paper cores as packaging, but continue to use them. „The Company MyMuesli managed to establish strong iconographic packaging with a laminated sleeve many years ago. And that with a standard product,“ says Michael Heintschel.
However, not all products are suitable for sale in a sleeve. „Theoretically, however, many foods can be stored in such a sleeve in the kitchen or pantry,“ says the brand consultant. A good example of this is Products that are used over a longer period of time consumed. Heintschel cites fine whiskey as an example. Even if the bottle is now empty, the decorative sleeve is still used.
It encourages manufacturers to create products that stand out from the crowd. Not only as stable conversions, but also as Primary packaging the laminated sleeve has potential. According to his forecast, the cardboard cylinder will continue to enjoy increasing popularity in the future: „This applies to numerous and equally diverse categories, such as underwear, socks and food.“
