Transporting building materials can be just as demanding as transporting valuable vases. They must reach their destination in perfect condition in order to fulfil safety standards and not disrupt tightly scheduled construction plans. A Dutch company uses stretch wrapping machines from Lantech and saves over 70 per cent on packaging materials.
The Dutch building materials specialist Laminex B.V. supplies composite ceiling systems and materials for fire protection, among other things. For many years The product portfolio also includes steel sheets for the construction of self-supporting floors. These can deform under high loads and have sharp edges.
For almost 30 years, the palletised boards were therefore packed in a special cardboard sleeve and several strapping bands before delivery. In order to reduce the consumption of packaging materials, the company was looking for a new solution. more sustainable, efficient and safe method - and finally came across the stretch wrapping machines from Lantech.
Semi-automatic stretch wrapper for efficient film use
„Aspects such as load stability, efficient film consumption and load safety were particularly important to us,“ says Dirk Monster, Operative Director at Laminex. Tim Reefs, Sales Manager at Lantech, advised the company to use the semi-automatic stretch wrapper Q-300XT, which is equipped with an oversized turntable and comes with the Click-n-Go remote control as standard. The machine is simply started and stopped by remote control. The patented XT cut-and-clamp system captures the stretch film and cuts it off automatically at the end of the wrapping cycle.
Lantech can optionally equip the machine with Pallet-Grip technology which secures the load to the pallet to prevent it from slipping. The bottom film web is twisted into a tight strand and wrapped around the upper boards of the pallet so that it cannot be damaged by the forklift tines.
The Q-300XT is even suitable for very cold environments and can cope with temperatures as low as -18 degrees Celsius. Thanks to the built-in scale, weighing and wrapping are carried out in a single step. The size of the turntable can be customised, whereby the maximum speed is eight revolutions per minute. Depending on the size of the load, up to 40 pallets can be wrapped per hour.
The Q-300XT is loaded using a pallet truck or forklift truck, with the forklift stop ensuring that the load is optimally aligned on the turntable before the load is loaded. according to the saved default settings is wrapped with stretch film.
By switching to the semi-automatic stretch wrapper, Laminex has been able to optimise the Consumption of packaging materials up 73 per cent reduce.
„Now we only use a small amount of film and corner profiles that prevent the load from constricting. This not only saves us packaging material, the pallet is also more stable and the packaging process is less labour-intensive.“
Dirk Monster, Operative Director at Laminex
