Progroup is building a modern corrugated cardboard plant near Venice and laid the foundation stone in mid-March with partners from politics and business. The company intends to use the plant to further expand its position in the Italian market.
Maximilian Heindl, Chairman of the Management Board of Progroup, emphasised the strategic importance of the project during his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony: „Italy is Europe's largest market for corrugated board formats. It offers us - and our customers - very promising prospects. With Progroup's latest sheet feeder plant in Cessalto, we have reached another important milestone in our growth story. This fills me with pride and joy.“ The new plant in the Veneto region complements the Progroup sheet feeder plant in Drizzona, which has been in operation since 2018. It provides the company with a Strategic position for sustainable growth in Italy.
„The importance of this investment cannot be emphasised enough. Not only will it have an immediate positive impact by creating new jobs, but it will also further strengthen the foundations of the industrial structures already present in our economic fabric. The presence of reliable companies like Progroup is crucial to the prosperity of our community. They are not only carriers of economic development, but also of values such as reliability and expertise.”
Emanuele Crosato, Mayor of the municipality of Cessalto
Progroup is creating around 60 new jobs with the state-of-the-art plant in the industrial area of the municipality of Cessalto. The first corrugated board formats are expected to roll off the production line as early as mid-2025. Directly adjacent to the Progroup plant, a packaging park is being built by local Progroup partner Ondulkart. This will enable Progroup to deliver the corrugated board formats „just in time“ via a direct connection to the Ondulkart plant, where the Italian manufacturer will process them into packaging. Thanks to the close interlinking of the logistics and production processes of both companies, CO2- emissions and freight costs saved. This results in an extremely sustainable packaging park.
„Here, two production steps that directly follow each other are brought together in trusting and long-term partnerships: the production of corrugated board formats and packaging. This allows us to concentrate on the key challenges of our part of the value chain: Progroup on the highly efficient production of the raw material corrugated board, our partner Ondulkart on the perfect packaging.“
Vinzenz Heindl, Co-Managing Director and shareholder of the Progroup parent company JH Holding
Maximilian Heindl also emphasises the importance of trust and long-term partnerships for Progroup's sustainable business model: „Growth can never be achieved alone. A success story like this requires partners and deep trust. After all, our entire business model is based on sustainable management and a long-term approach: In our investments, in the service life of our systems and in our customer and supplier relationships.“
