Organic pioneer Lebensbaum has now further developed its classic packaging, the stand-up pouch for spices and herbs, saving around ten tonnes of packaging material a year.
The organic company from Diepholz now dispenses with the stand-up pouches for spices and herbs. ready-made reclosure clip and has adapted the film accordingly. Measured against 2020, this will save around 10 tonnes of packaging material per year.
Packaging plays an important role in the food sector, as it serves to protect the product. At the same time, however, it also causes large amounts of waste. The company therefore follows a clear principle in this area: as much as necessary, as little as possible.
Lebensbaum optimises its packaging
In order to honour this principle, the company is continuously working on the Optimisation of packaging of its teas, coffees and spices.
„By converting our packaging for spices and herbs, around 31 tonnes less CO2 equivalents are released into the atmosphere every year. This is another important step towards a more sustainable future.“ Hans-Ulrich Schatz, Tree of Life Managing Director
However, the organic pioneer's commitment goes even further: „We are working towards ensuring that Lebensbaum packaging does not constitute waste, but is used for other purposes. as a reusable resource part of a closed cycle will be a success,“ says Hans-Ulrich Schatz. The changeover of the spice and herb packaging is taking place gradually. Some products will soon be available in the new packaging.
