Ulrich Walter GmbH is continuing to optimise the packaging of its Lebensbaum brand. In future, loose teas will be packaged in mono-material polypropylene bags.
According to the company, the changeover will reduce material consumption and Improves recyclability with unchanged good product protection.
Until now, the organic producer has packaged its loose teas in paper bags with a plastic inner bag and a paper label. In future Bag and label made from the same material are made of polypropylene (PP). The viewing window moves to the side of the packaging.
According to the Diepholz-based company, the new packaging, which is made entirely of plastic, is the most sustainable solution, because PP protects the product and its flavour. This is the most important point, because if a tea loses quality due to less suitable packaging and is even disposed of as a result, this has a direct negative impact on the environmental balance and ecological footprint.
The new packaging also improves recyclability, as it can be now consists entirely of mono-material instead of a composite of paper and plastic as before. This turns the packaging into a reusable resource in a closed cycle.
The changeover of the Tree of Life-tea packaging to the new material and design gradually from the end of the year.
