In the newly opened Application Centre, Leibinger offers the creation of print samples as a free service within three working days. Modern technical equipment and extended facilities enable practical sampling.
Leibinger's Application Centre creates print samples according to customer requirements. This means that companies from all sectors can send in samples of their products, which are first analysed and then printed. Printed and tested with various inks be used. The samples are intended to provide certainty when deciding on the right labelling solution. The Application Centre team is in contact with customers throughout the entire sample process, providing them with an all-round carefree package of suitable printing technology and optimally matched ink for their application.
„Every material has different properties and every ink behaves differently on them. For this reason, it is essential to test inks on the relevant materials so that customers can see for themselves. We have chosen the term ‚Application Centre‘ because we have created numerous new possibilities here to create the best samples for our customers close to the process.“
Dr Bastian Klose, Head of the Application Centre

70 printers and 70 inks always ready to print
The Application Centre offers a comprehensive service: Customers receive their printed samples back free of charge within three days. The centre uses a machine park with around 70 printers for this purpose. „This is made possible by our Fully automatic nozzle sealing system that prevents ink from drying out. Button on - and the patterns are printed. Button off - the nozzle closes. Every printer is ready for use at the touch of a button, even with highly pigmented inks,“ says Bastian Klose.
With IR spectroscopy, Leibinger can precisely Determine the material class of the product to be sampled. With a little dexterity, you can also sometimes also identify additives in the material. This is crucial for selecting the optimum ink for the material, as the specific properties of the ink and material influence each other. In order to change the surface properties of the materials and optimise the adhesion of the inks, the materials are pre-treated directly in the application centre with processes such as corona or plasma if required.

The Application Centre is also close to the industrial process in terms of speed. One Specially designed acceleration unit offers the team the opportunity, Create print samples at defined speeds and thus simulate a real production environment.
The ink portfolio comprises around 70 inks. They are created in the state-of-the-art ink laboratory, which has been housed in its own building since 2022. The new Application Centre has now been added - for short distances, optimum coordination and ideal working conditions. With years of experience, the laboratory team develops a wide range of inks, including sterilisation-resistant ink, fluorescent safety ink, FDA-compliant ink, food-safe ink and many others.
