KURZ is the only manufacturer in the industry to have developed a recycling programme called RECOSYS for the PET waste material produced during hot stamping, which converts the waste material back into a valuable raw material. With RECOSYS 2.0, Markus Hoffmann, Member of the Management Board, and Rolf Schmidtke, Project Manager of RECOSYS 2.0, presented the further development at interpack.
The myth of plastic films on metallised end products is still circulating in the industry. No wonder: after all, PET films are involved in every metallised finishing process and the industry talks about hot stamping foil or cold foil. The fact is: the plastic film only serves as a temporary carrier for our wafer-thin transfer product - i.e. the PET carrier is removed during the application process. KURZ is the only manufacturer in the industry to have developed a recycling programme called RECOSYS® for the residual PET material, which converts the residual material back into a valuable raw material.
With RECOSYS® 2.0 (which will be presented for the first time at this year's Interpack), KURZ is taking a further and rather large step towards a circular economy. In line with the motto „prevention“ before „recycling“, KURZ has also reduced the carrier thickness of the PET carrier from 12µm to up to 6µm (by up to 50%).
