At Anuga FoodTec, the STI Group will be showcasing paper-based packaging that is characterised by its sustainability aspects. They are lightweight and can be recycled in the waste paper cycle.
The STI Group's Circular Innovation team develops sustainable packaging solutions and brings innovations to market maturity. The Group will be presenting the latest results at the Anuga Foodtec from - Packaging solutions with water-based barrier coatings, lightweight and resource-saving materials and the Sustainability Scorecard for the sustainable optimisation of existing packaging.
If fat and moisture barriers are to be realised sustainably, this poses challenges for food producers in the food sector. Modern recyclable barriers are water-soluble and can often replace conventional PE coatings. With cardboard folding boxes for baked goods, transport packaging for smoked fish and corrugated cardboard solutions for frozen products as well as fruit and vegetables, the STI Group is showcasing best practice solutions that are completely recyclable. Recycled via the waste paper cycle can be realised.
New technologies, new papers and the optimisation of the materials used based on technical requirements save resources and often also costs. The aim is to achieve the lightest possible packaging with the best protective properties and volume-optimised solutions that meet the requirements of the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation).
The Sustainability Scorecard of the STI Group puts packaging on a sustainable course. The Evaluation tool checks packaging solutions quickly and transparently on the key dimensions of sustainability and highlights potential for optimisation. The STI Group's Circular Innovation white paper, which can be downloaded here, explains how this works in detail.
