With Starlite-R Still, Sidel has developed a new bottle base made from 100 per cent recycled PET (rPET), which reduces the weight of the bottles and ensures high-speed production.

The new bottle base is manufactured using the company's patented technology, which includes gentle material stretching and precise material distribution, optimised venting for easy shaping and an efficient base cooling circuit. These conditions are Ideal for rPET that is processed at higher temperatures, says Mikael Derrien, Manager Packaging Innovations at Sidel.

„There are bottle bases on the market today that are suitable for lightweight designs and high production speeds, but they are designed for virgin PET bottles. Sidel's StarLite-R Still is therefore the only solution on the market specifically designed for recycled PET that delivers the high performance required in this highly competitive market segment.“

The new design ensures this, that the floor does not deform or break, which is crucial for the integrity of the bottle during production, transport, storage, transport and use. The rounded edges of the mould base also facilitate shaping during blowing and increase the base's resistance to defects such as bursting during blowing. This feature is particularly important for lightweight bottles, which are more susceptible to such problems due to the use of thinner material.

Thanks to the improved venting of the mould base, up to 20 percent less blowing pressure can be used in bottle production. The carefully designed Grooves and vent holes in the mould ensure that the air escapes efficiently and that the base of the bottle takes on the desired shape perfectly, even at low pressure. This reduces energy consumption and production costs while maintaining the same quality.

The new bottle base is Compatible with round, square-round and rectangular bottles and is suitable for single or returnable bottles from 0.25 litres to 2.5 litres. It can also be used with transparent or white PET. The base can also be easily integrated into existing production lines and is suitable for high production speeds with different bottle formats.
