Amcor has introduced an improved version of its UniPak container for dairy products that is not only more environmentally friendly, but also offers the same versatility as the previous model. Material consumption has been reduced while maintaining quality, robustness and compatibility with the product line.

The new UniPak container from Amcor weighs just 31.6 grams including the lid. This reduction in material is a significant step towards conserving resources. Despite the lower weight, Amcor promises that the container does not suffer any loss in terms of strength, durability and user-friendliness. This optimisation leads to an estimated reduction in carbon emissions of up to nine percent, which can have a significant environmental impact in high production volumes.

Recyclability and product protection

The container is made entirely of polypropylene, a material that can be recycled in many countries, provided the appropriate infrastructure is in place. This feature makes the new UniPak container not only lighter, but also more environmentally friendly. The robust design of the container ensures that the contents are protected throughout the supply chain, which is particularly important for the transport of dairy products.

Improved handling and safety

Another highlight of the new container is its compact shape, which makes it easier to handle in everyday life. The lid, which is manufactured using a compression moulding process, is liquid-tight and offers high pressure resistance. Even under heavy loads, it does not detach from the cup, which increases the safety of the product. The improved tamper-evident closure also ensures a high level of product safety and offers consumers a guarantee that the contents will remain intact.
