Lightweight and reusable plastic pallets for fresh produce

IFCO is expanding its portfolio of reusable packaging solutions with the launch of the new Nestor plastic pallet. The pallet, which will be presented at Fruit Attraction in Madrid, is particularly lightweight, stable and digitally connected to optimise logistics for fresh food.

IFCO presented its new Nestor plastic pallet at the Fruit Attraction trade fair in Madrid. This ultra-light pallet weighs only 14 kg and is therefore lighter than conventional wooden pallets, which usually weigh between 22 and 24 kg. Nestor was developed for the Requirements of fresh produce logistics and is designed to offer stability and load-bearing capacity for loads of up to 1,000 kg thanks to wider legs, an interlocking design and metal struts.

The pallet is part of the IFCO SmartCycle, a closed-loop system that is based on Sustainable pooling of pallets is used. It features Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), GPS and a QR code to ensure the traceability of goods along the supply chain.
