Metsä Board and Finnish confectionery manufacturer Kouvolan Lakritsi have jointly developed a new, resealable liquorice packaging made from virgin fibre board. The sustainable solution reduces plastic consumption and offers durable, attractive packaging for sales.
Metsä Board and the confectionery manufacturer Kouvolan Lakritsi have launched a new, Recyclable packaging solution for liquorice developed. The packaging is made from virgin fibre cardboard and offers a resealable solution that keeps the product fresh while reducing plastic consumption. The packaging uses a Heat-sealed transparent film that can be removed without leaving any residue and a cardboard lid that protects the liquorice after opening.
„We thought long and hard about whether the sales packaging for liquorice could be something other than a plastic bag. The new cup can now even be reused as a coffee cup in addition to the packaging itself and gives the coffee a light liquorice flavour.”
Timo Nisula, Managing Director of Kouvolan Lakritsi
Kouvolan Lakritsi, a well-known Finnish brand founded in 1906, has been producing its liquorice according to the same recipe since 1960. The cup was produced by Kruunukartonki in Finland.
„Working closely with our customers is crucial to developing carton innovations that meet their specific needs. In one such collaboration with Kouvolan Lakritsi, we have now developed a new cartonboard solution that communicates the company's brand very well and offers a functional, innovative design.”
