No trade fair is complete without an award ceremony: today at Logimat, the best products of the trade fair were honoured in three categories. The awards were presented during the opening of the LogiMat Arena on Tuesday morning.

The independent jury of scientists and journalists selected three worthy award winners from more than one hundred applications received, all of which honour the name „Best Product“. They fulfil the competition criteria of increased productivity, cost savings and rationalisation. According to the jury, the award-winning companies and their products contribute to secure processes, flexible adaptation to changes and improved efficiency and thus ultimately to increased productivity in logistics. The „Best Product“ award was presented during the opening ceremony in the LogiMat Arena on the morning of the first day of the trade fair. The laudatory speech was given by Prof Dr Johannes Fottner, Professor of Materials Handling Material Flow Logistics at the Technical University of Munich.

Automation of the loading and unloading process

In the „Picking, conveying, lifting and storage technology“ category, the prize went to Meysens GmbH for the 3D ultrasonic sensor Toposens Echo One. The product enables mobile robots such as AGVs and AMRs to avoid collisions with all types of obstacles. In contrast to existing sensor technologies, which can be negatively affected by lighting conditions or humidity, the sensor uses echolocation as known from the bat, to generate robust 3D echolocation data in real time. Regardless of the conditions on site.

In the category „Identification, packaging and loading technology, load securing“, the prize was awarded to Trapo GmbH. The award went to the TLS 3600 loading and unloading system, which autonomously loads pallets from the warehouse into the lorry. The TLS 3600 closes the safety gap in the loading zone. In combination with automated guided vehicles, it can replace the usual forklift truck transport of palletised goods between production, warehouse and loading zone. by a fully automated process and thus creates personal and goods safety during loading and unloading.

„For decades, we have been endeavouring to reduce the downtimes of trucks at the ramp. Trapo offers an improvement for box lorries in general and without special stationary equipment. The system even tolerates small deviations in the alignment of the lorries,“ says jury member Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolf Michael Scheid, retired head of the department.

Reduce the number of tours and thus CO2 emissions

In the „Software, Communication, IT“ category, the prize went to Greenplan GmbH - Member of EPG for the Greenplan algorithm for route planning. Greenplan is a SaaS provider for planning dynamic routes that are both efficient and sustainable. Route planning is based on a mathematical algorithm that enables efficiency increases of up to 20 per cent.

„The software optimises tours and routes with the help of an algorithm developed together with the University of Bonn. Tours are planned dynamically depending on the actual shipment volume. This can reduce the number of tours and thus the emission of CO2 be reduced„, says jury member Prof. Dr Robert Schulz from the Institute of Materials Handling and Logistics at the University of Stuttgart. „The analysis of historical speed profiles of individual road sections depending on the time of day also enables better planning of tours and routes.“

The three products honoured with the „Best Product 2023“ award are exemplary for all other international exhibitors at LogiMat who showcase their innovations to the trade audience. The world's largest trade fair for intralogistics solutions and process management will take place at the exhibition centre in Stuttgart until 27 April 2023.
