
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) has delivered two sheetfed offset printing presses to packaging manufacturer WestRock. These are the two longest presses ever produced. They were delivered to a plant in Poland and Germany.
The longest machine delivered to the WestRock plant in Tczew, Poland, is a 42 metre long, specially adapted configuration of a Speedmaster XL 106 with a total of 20 printing and coating units. This record-breaking machine epitomises one of the company's key business strategies.

This business strategy is increasingly paying off. With forecast annual growth of around 2.3 per cent, the folding carton market is a strategic growth segment for Heidelberg. Around the Half of the sheetfed offset presses sold and installed by Heidelberg go to packaging customers. „Today, Heidelberg is the market leader in packaging printing, with Speedmaster XL technology playing an important role,“ says Monz.
The trend towards increasingly sustainable packaging, such as folding cartons, is fuelling demand. Cardboard packaging is increasingly replacing plastic packaging in all areas - from food to cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Heidelberg also supplies a another Speedmaster XL 106 with a total of 19 printing and coating units to a WestRock site in Obersulm, Germany - the second longest in the world.
The record-breaking presses supplied to WestRock can print high-quality, eye-catching packaging.
