Bosch Packaging Technology presented the new generation of the „AFG 5000“ filling and closing machine in Crailsheim from 18 to 29 September 2017. Based on a single machine platform, the system offers different versions for the sterile filling of pharmaceutical powders into glass vials.

The AFG 5000 enables users to dose both small and large quantities of powder precisely and quickly. There is a choice of one dosing point for dispensing 160 containers per minute and another version with three dosing points for up to 480 vials in the same period of time. Dosing is carried out using the Vacuum-compressed air principle. This is particularly important for small Dosing quantities for large output quantities. For all variants, there is a choice between 100 per cent and statistical control of the Dosing weights during the ongoing process.

Dieter Bandtel, Product Manager at Bosch Packaging Technology, emphasises the new, variable Transport system of the AFG 5000: „While the vials enter continuously, the transport system adjusts the speed precisely to the rhythm of the individual work stations as it progresses.“ The vials are optimally synchronised at each station. There are no idle times or traffic jams. Via circulating carrier systems, so-called Shuttles, the vials reach the work stations quickly. The shuttles immediately return to the inlet in fast mode as soon as they have delivered the stoppered injection vials to the outlet.

The transport system was designed vertically to save space. Because the machine is used by customers in class B cleanrooms, the following criteria are important with regard to the Operating, maintenance and cleaning costs every centimetre saved. The filling area, which is separated from the inlet and outlet and must be dedusted and cooled with sterile dry air, also serves this purpose. An optional air treatment system can be installed outside the sterile room.

Bosch Packaging Technology has optimised the AFG 5000 for ease of use. All parts that come into contact with the product are easy to dismantle and can be cleaned and sterilised. With upstream Cleaning machines and Sterilised tunnels and a downstream Flanging machine the filling and capping machine can be combined into a complete line for the reliable filling of pharmaceutical powders [infotext icon].
