Magnetic couplings for the packaging industry

KBK's magnetic couplings provide torque for various applications in the food and packaging industries. 

Machines in the food and packaging sector have to fulfil special requirements. KBK magnetic couplings enable precise, fast and uninterrupted operation. The hysteresis magnetic and permanent magnetic couplings have different properties for different applications. 

Especially in the In the event of an overload, both versions react differentlyWhile hysteresis magnetic clutches provide a sliding separation of the power transmission, permanent magnet clutches slip in the event of an overload. The hysteresis magnetic clutches from KBK are therefore suitable for use in the rotary heads of bottle capping systems for PET bottles. In contrast, the permanent magnet clutches are suitable for the rotary heads in capping systems for glass bottles.

The company's magnetic couplings also protect against overloads on packaging systems - e.g. on horizontal cartoning machines where a pusher pushes the products into the carton. Overloads can also occur on carton forming or carton sealing systems due to jamming of the cutting tools.

Hysteresis magnetic clutches are available for torque ranges between 01 and 5 Nm, while permanent magnetic clutches can be used for torques between 1.2 and 60 Nm. Both magnetic clutches are suitable for Speed ranges from 4,000 to 10,000 min-1 and are also available in an easy-to-clean stainless steel version. The company uses special magnets and adhesives on request - e.g. for high-temperature applications. Customers are also supported in the design and calculation of the required torsional and overload torques.
