Following the conclusion of the three-week consultation process with employees and the relevant employee representatives, Hoffmann Neopac signed an agreement on the sale of the assets of the can business to the Massilly Group on 12 February 2025.
Massilly is a globally recognised family business based in Mâcon, France, specialising in metal packaging.
„We are delighted to welcome Hoffmann Neopac's can business to the Massilly Group. This acquisition fits perfectly with our strategy to expand our expertise in metal packaging while maintaining the high quality standards for which both companies are known. With our strong focus on solutions for our customers, we look forward to integrating the team in Dronten and further strengthening our market presence in Northern Europe with our first plant in the Netherlands,“ says Hoffmann. Thomas Bindschedler, President of the Massilly Group.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close on 31 March 2025. As part of the purchase agreement, the shares in CM Packaging B.V. in Dronten (Netherlands) will be transferred to the Massilly Group, ensuring continuity for customers and security of supply, according to the statement. The production of metal packaging in Thun (Switzerland) will be phased out by mid-2025.
After 135 years in the tinplate business, this decision is an important milestone for Hoffmann Neopac: „It allows us to concentrate on our strength - the tube business. By focussing on innovation and sustainability in tube packaging, we offer added value for our customers in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and dental sectors,“ comments Hoffmann Neopac. Dr Manfred Zurkirch, CEO of Hoffmann Neopac. „At the same time, we are confident that our can business will continue to develop under Massilly's leadership, as the company has deep industry knowledge, similar corporate values and a commitment to excellence.“
