Following the corona lockdown, Messe Düsseldorf has now drawn up a hygiene and infection protection concept and will resume trade fair operations from September.
Here we go again: After the lockdown in spring, trade fairs and trade congresses in NRW can take place again under certain conditions. The Hygiene and infection protection concept for the Düsseldorf exhibition centre makes it possible to relevant industry platforms with the greatest possible protection of exhibitors, visitors, partners and employees.
Hygiene and infection protection concept based on the current state ordinance
It ensures the necessary health precautions, hygiene measures and distancing rules and includes measures for managing the number of people and space as well as hygiene, technical and organisational measures that the state government has established for the operation of congresses and trade fairs. This is based on the current Corona Protection Ordinance of the State of NRW.
At the same time, the successive international travel relaxations the resumption of trade fair operations. Following the initial opening of borders within Europe, the German government has been gradually lifting restrictions on entry from third countries since 1 July 2020. Such initiatives benefit Düsseldorf's leading international trade fairs in particular, which are characterised by a particularly high level of internationality. In 2019, this was 73.4 per cent for exhibitors and 37.1 per cent for visitors.
Important step for the economy

According to a study by the Munich-based ifo Institute, the Düsseldorf trade fair and congress sector alone induces annual sales of around 2.98 billion euros (in Düsseldorf: Euro 1.66 billion), Secures 27,692 jobs (in Düsseldorf: 16,664) and leads to additional tax revenues of 567 million euros (in Düsseldorf: 36.3 million euros). One third of all hotel overnight stays are attributable to the trade fairs.

Detailed hygiene concept based on proven measures
All upcoming events of the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Centre become have a person limit, so that the minimum distance can be maintained. Tickets are therefore limited and in principle only available online, Visitors must register at the time of purchase. When entering the event areas, they are thus recorded numerically. At the same time, the provisions of the Corona Protection Ordinance of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on the traceability of all persons present are observed and implemented. All payment transactions will be cashless where possible. Therefore all cash registers will also remain closed.
