Together with the Print City Alliance competence network and other partners, Metsä Board has developed an innovative fibre-based champagne cooler with an integrated cooling system made of barrier board.

Fresh fibre board manufacturer Metsä Board developed the packaging in collaboration with the catering company Benz & Co. and Kessler, Germany's oldest sparkling wine producer. The project was initiated by the members of the Print City Alliance. The aim was to, to produce multifunctional packaging, which stands out thanks to its various high-quality finishes and is an eye-catching and fully recyclable advertising medium. The two-part packaging offers Benz & Co. and Kessler an ideal opportunity to present the bottle.

„It was clear that the carton itself had to be strong enough to transport the bottle. At the same time, it had to convey a strong brand message and support the presentation of the product. That's why we opted for MetsäBoard Prime FBB Bright.“

The cooler was presented by Dennis Grotian at the IST UV Days 2023, the world's largest In-house exhibition for UV and LED UV curing technology, The collaboration with the Print City Alliance is a long-standing success story. All participating partners strive to find the best possible solutions to inspire the public with innovative fibre-based packaging solutions. The design and the box were very well received at the IST UV Days and we received a lot of positive feedback,„ concludes Grotian.
