Prominent reinforcement for Logistikbude GmbH: Professor Michael ten Hompel, former Managing Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML), is now a shareholder in the Dortmund-based technology start-up.

Michael ten Hompel is thus expanding its existing commitment and will support the start-up not only professionally but also financially in future.

„Michael ten Hompel stands for innovation and progress in logistics like no other. The fact that he believes in our vision and supports us not only with advice but also with his own capital means an incredible amount to us. It shows that we are on the right track.“

The software developed by the Dortmund start-up Automates the management of all types of load carriers, for example pallets, containers or racks, through the intelligent use of existing data. This creates real-time transparency along the entire supply chain without any manual effort, while processes such as account reconciliation, stock reconciliation and stocktaking are triggered automatically. In addition, any documents, in particular pallet notes, are automatically booked using AI. The start-up's grand vision is to fully automate load carrier management.

Even during his time at the Fraunhofer Institute, ten Hompel always encouraged his employees to become entrepreneurs and found their own start-ups - including the team at Logistikbude. For around one and a half years, ten Hompel has already been supporting the young company as an honorary member of the board and contributes its scientific and strategic expertise. By becoming an investor, he is deepening this commitment out of conviction for the concept.

„With the Logistikbude software solution, we have the unique opportunity to establish a digital standard in a central logistics process. Such Opportunities to create standards are extremely rare - This is another reason why I want to be an active part of this development. Logistikbude is thinking in a completely new dimension. We're not talking about a few per cent increase in efficiency, but about a solution that fully automates load carrier management for the first time.“

For the former institute director, who has been involved with pioneering technologies such as the Internet of Things throughout his career and is considered one of the inventors of shuttle technology in intralogistics, load carrier management is an overarching challenge, which has always moved the transport and logistics sector, the retail trade and manufacturing companies.
