According to RecyClass, the cross-industry initiative to promote the recyclability of packaging plastics in Europe, the Millad NX 8000 ECO clarifier from Milliken fully compatible with the recycling processes for polypropylene (PP) in Europe.
Additives such as Millad NX 8000 are usually incorporated into the polypropylene. There they ensure that the packaging is significantly clearer than packaging made from standard PP. For RecyClass certification, packaging with clarifiers must fulfil certain Conditions in order to be considered fully recyclable in the PP recycling stream. This includes a Maximum proportion of clarifier of 0.4 per cent of the total packaging weight.
The tests were carried out by the Plastics Forming Enterprise in accordance with the APR PP Critical & Application Guidance Protocol. Recyclates containing this clarifier can be can be used for high-quality applications. The protocol provides for the examination of a limit concentration of 50 per cent.
