Increased production capacity and improved environmental compatibility: these were Mondi's goals when investing in the modernisation of the containerboard plant in Kuopio. The company invested a total of 125 million euros and has now celebrated with an opening ceremony.
Mondi has completed its 125 million euro investment in the Kuopio corrugated board plant. It includes the Modernisation of the wood yard, the fibre line, the evaporation plant and the paper machine for the production of ProVantage Powerflute, a high-performance grill that is mainly used in trays and cartons for fresh fruit and vegetables.
This investment will Increase production capacity by 55,000 tonnes per year, improve product quality for the benefit of our customers and increase environmental performance by reducing greenhouse gas emissions per tonne of paper and improving resource and energy efficiency.

On 20 June, Mondi Kuopio celebrated this milestone with a launch event attended by local politicians and partners, highlighting the joint efforts and shared vision of Mondi and its stakeholders in promoting economic growth and environmental responsibility.
