The Molson Coors Beverage Company is giving its beer packaging a new look. Together with Competek, the Bulgarian beer brands have been redesigned. The PET packaging for Kamenitza, Burgasko and Astika now has a new, eye-catching look.
The Competek engineers developed the new packaging with the objectives of Molson Coors in relation to productivity, costs, market requirements and, above all, the existing plant limitations. The three brands already had a common shape in different formats and differ from each other in terms of colour and label.
Competek suggested designing just one mould, graded in a 1L, 2L and 2.3L format. They also wanted to further differentiate the product on shelf by labelling each branded pack with Decorations enriched on the body of the bottle was created. The entire design phase was carried out in close collaboration with Gentlebrand, the Italian branding and design agency.
Thanks to Competek's approach to sustainable packaging solutions, the mould series supplied have been designed in such a way that the Format change activities fully optimised could be realised. This enabled the Downtimes reduced and parts of the existing tools reused be produced. In addition to the packaging engineering and the production of the moulds, an important part of the project was the Competek laboratory, which tested the mechanical performance of the bottles. For this purpose, a pilot mould and a series of bottles were produced at Competek's premises.
