In order to improve the traceability of its release papers, Mondi is reorganising its entire portfolio. Where previously glassine-based release papers were used, the company is now using certified base paper.
Glassine-based release papers are mainly used for labels, adhesive tapes and medical applications. The switch to certified base paper has improved Mondi traceability and works with partners who manage the forests responsibly, in line with its commitment to zero deforestation in its forests and supply chain.
The close collaboration with its partners, known as the EcoSolutions approach, means that the company will continue to ask the right questions and develop the sustainable packaging solutions to meet its customers' needs. Support customers in achieving their sustainability goals. The company is already working with a number of certification bodies to increase the availability of certified wood fibre in its key wood sourcing markets in Europe.
All of Mondi's pulp and paper mills are PEFC or FSC-certified, 100 per cent of its own forests are certified and 76 per cent of externally sourced wood and 100 per cent of sourced pulp come from certified sources.
„As part of our MAP2030 ambitions, we are committed to taking action on climate change and leading by example for others involved in international manufacturing, production and logistics to help them make sustainability a key priority. Offering certified base paper is part of this. It is the first step in modernising our entire release liner portfolio to manage our impact while providing the best possible solutions for the customer and end user.“
