Lining films for flexible bulk containers help to reduce the risk of product contamination and at the same time improve operational safety during handling. Mondi has upgraded a system for the production of high-barrier gusseted tubing for FIBCs.
The new acquisition makes Mondi Styria the first manufacturer of such Hoses under food-clean conditions. „Mondi's FIBC liners ensure clean food processing and are therefore ideal for milk powder, other foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and other applications,“ emphasises Stefan Pfundner, Business Solution Manager, Mondi Technical Films. „Not only do they contribute to advanced workflows and logistics structures at the customer, but thanks to their quality they also reduce raw material consumption and offer an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional liners.“
The Mondi Styria film extrusion plant in Styria (Austria) is known for its outstanding hygiene standards and innovative development of sustainable products. The plant has many years of experience in developing more environmentally friendly products, including Thinner, recyclable film and layer structures. Mondi Styria has won the AA certification according to the global standard of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) for packaging and packaging materials. This certification is an internationally recognised seal of approval for quality, safety and responsibility.
With the new side gusset system, Mondi can supply processors with tubing with a total circumference of up to 4,400 millimetres. Suitable for sensitive products
Mondi manufactures the high-barrier sleeves and supplies them to customers who then produce the actual FIBC linings. By using permanently antistatic additives on the inside and outside of the film, Mondi can minimise the Dust explosion risk when handling powdery or free-flowing bulk goods and foodstuffs. This applies, for example, to the filling and unloading of baby milk powder, flour, sugar and spices into or out of type B big bags. FIBC bags are also used for the bulk packaging of bulk goods such as chemicals and minerals.
