The future of adaptive manufacturing is at the centre of the activities of B&R Industrial Automation GmbH, Eggelsberg (Austria): ABB's Machine Automation Division will be demonstrating in Nuremberg how even complex challenges can be transformed into customised solutions and how automation can be rethought. New solutions, live demonstrations and product highlights are designed to drive efficiency, flexibility and innovation worldwide.
For example, the ACOPOS P3 series has been further developed and, with up to 60 per cent more power density and eight times the computing power for the same size, is B&R's most powerful servo drive to date. The new P3 series offers optimised energy consumption, integrated intelligent functions and simplified, efficient wiring solutions. It thus enables the construction of high-performance machines with compact dimensions. With seven new devices, including single and dual-axis variants from 32 to 80 kW, the new ACOPOS P3 makes performance even more scalable. In addition, the two-axis module offers twice the power density compared to previous versions and therefore more choice and functions for machines. At the same time, the new servo drive reduces the space required in the control cabinet by 50 per cent.
The improved computing power of the drive increases the reaction speed and allows a cycle time of 50 µs for all position and speed control loops. Advanced intelligent functions can be executed directly in the servo drive.
Comprehensive thermal monitoring by 17 integrated sensors allows the system to be operated safely at its performance limits and reduces the need for cost-intensive oversizing of the drives.
