Mosca responds to difficult market environment with focus on efficiency

Mosca GmbH looks back on an economically challenging year in 2025. In 2026, the company is focusing on internationalisation, digitalisation and the strategic use of artificial intelligence.

The past year demanded a high degree of adaptability from Mosca. Contrary to original forecasts, there was no noticeable economic recovery in the second half of the year.

„We have experienced a year that has challenged us in many ways. The expected upturn failed to materialise across all markets. The current market situation requires us to concentrate fully on our core competencies and strictly prioritise our projects.“

Timo Mosca, CEO

Despite the difficult environment, Mosca made targeted investments in its future viability. With the opening of a new production facility in Johor, Malaysia, in June 2025, the Group strengthened its presence in growth markets outside Europe.

At last year's trade fairs, Mosca also presented several new machines and solutions that fit into increasingly digitalised production and packaging lines. The two high-performance strapping machines SoniXs MCB Speed and SoniXs MP-7, for example, offer customers efficiency and digital features. And the Digital Load Pass presented last year contains all the information about the strapping used in a QR code - including the energy consumption during packaging and the resulting CO2-footprint.

PPWR commitment and project alliance

The new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) also made its mark: together with twelve other European companies, Mosca launched the „Project Alliance Strapping“ (PAU) and campaigned for an exemption for strapping in order to prevent unnecessary emissions and restrictions on transport safety while promoting sustainable recycling strategies.

The past year was overshadowed by the death of company founder Gerd Mosca. „Thanks to his pioneering spirit, his courage to embrace change and his firm trust in people, my father laid the foundations for Mosca GmbH on which the company stands today. This legacy will continue to be decisive for the future direction of the company,“ says Timo Mosca.

Anniversary year 2026

The year 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of Mosca GmbH. In view of the still cautious forecast for the first half of the year, the company is focussing on consolidating its own strengths in its anniversary year. A key component of this is the strategic use of artificial intelligence to simplify internal processes and utilise resources more efficiently.

At the same time, final preparations are underway for the new belt production facility in Mexico, which will provide the entire belt portfolio for the Central and South American market from 2026. The company also intends to expand its business in India and China. „We have experienced difficult external market conditions in Germany and Europe over the past three years. For the coming months and years, we would like to see a clear direction and a normalisation of the political environment so that we can set the course for growth again,“ concludes Timo Mosca.
