At Anuga FoodTec, Mosca GmbH will be presenting both the benefits of ultrasonic technology for strapping foodstuffs and stretch wrapping as a cost-sensitive addition. A SoniXs MS-6-VA with a stainless steel housing and a Saturn S8 high-performance stretch wrapper from Movitec will take centre stage.

Whether fruit and vegetable crates, drinks crates and cartons, or chilled products such as fish and meat in polystyrene boxes - there is hardly any other industry in which Packaging solution requirements as dependent on the individual product as in the food industry. Good air circulation is essential for warm goods and fruit and vegetables to prevent mould, while products such as pasta need to be packaged as stably as possible and protected from moisture.

„This makes it all the more important to choose the right transport protection. Where strapping is a material-saving solution for stable products such as crates and boxes, stretch wrapping is a valuable addition for unstable containers or products that require protection from environmental influences.“

Mosca will be demonstrating both solutions in action at its stand at Anuga FoodTec. With the SoniXs MS-6-VA, Mosca is presenting a strapping machine that is optimised for the food sector: it is made entirely of corrosion-resistant materials that meet the high hygiene requirements of the food industry and can be easily cleaned with water. The machine also utilises Mosca's SoniXs ultrasonic unit, which does not generate heat, vapours or odours when sealing the strapping. „The combination of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and our SoniXs ultrasonic technology qualifies the MS-6-VA Especially for chilled foods such as fish and meat products, where the machine has to be rinsed regularly,“ says Timo Mosca. „While machines with a hot wedge cannot seal wet belts, wet belt material does not cause any problems for the SoniXs unit.“

With hot wedge units, unwinders usually have to be covered by hand before cleaning the machine. valuable time saved by users of the SoniXs MS-6-VA. Additional protection against dirt and dripping water is provided by the lateral positioning of the strapping unit and the flexible positioning of the strap reels. The dispenser can also be mounted on the top of the machine, which saves space - and is a significant advantage, especially in tight production halls. The optional double dispenser saves even more time: when the tape material on one reel runs out, it switches to the full reel fully automatically and in good time. The empty reel can then be replaced at a suitable time and during ongoing operation.

Saturn S8 for particularly high throughput

The Movitec Saturn S8 complements the strapping portfolio represented by the MS-6-VA with stretch wrapping technology. With a double head and a throughput of up to 160 pallets per hour the rotary ring stretch wrapper from Mosca subsidiary Movitec is fully customised for food companies with very high requirements. aligned. To create a secure bond, the machine first applies a vertical edge protector made of solid cardboard to the corners of the products. The ring then moves from top to bottom while the film dispenser rotates around the crates and wraps them evenly. The stretch film not only provides stability, but also protection against external influences such as dust or moisture. Thanks to 300 percent film pre-stretch, material consumption is minimised at the same time.
