Multivac exhibits at Fruit Logistica 2025 Packaging solutions for the fruit trade. The trade fair presentation will focus on sustainable solutions that optimise the recyclability of packaging and minimise the use of plastic - right through to completely plastic-free packaging.

A fully automatic line solution with the TX 710 traysealer for packaging large batches will be on display at the trade fair stand. This machine packs Fresh berries in environmentally friendly cellulose trays and then seals them with a thin, transparent and compostable film that protects the sensitive fruit from falling out or being removed.

„The traysealer is equipped with sensors and intelligent control technology that ensures constant coordination between feeding the trays, sealing them and transporting them in the traysealer. As a result, the machine works continuously at the highest level, which ensures maximum output and high pack quality and reduces waste. An optional connection to the Multivac Smart Services Dashboards also makes it possible to monitor and optimise production efficiency in real time.“

Packaging without a packaging machine

The Multivac TopClose process for soft fruit enables the simple and Ecological sealing of cardboard trays using self-adhesive labels on a labeller without the need for a packaging machine. The transparent film label seals the top of the tray and the pack is labelled at the same time. The adhesive is only partially applied to the outer edge of the label, making it safe for contact with food. It is also equipped with functions such as a tear tab and a reseal option, suitable for trays of any shape - whether round or square. This is the plastic content of the pack is less than 10 per cent, completely plastic-free material combinations are also possible.

The process utilises the L 330 conveyor belt labeller, which Printing the labels with variable data and checking the print quality is made possible. The trays are automatically sealed in a continuous flow - with an output of up to 250 packs per minute. This ensures fast processing of sensitive foodstuffs and reduces labour costs, as the same quantity can be packed in less time.

Packaging with little plastic

For mushrooms or strawberries, for example, the Multivac TopWrap process. In this process, cardboard trays are filled and then sealed with a transparent film label on three sides. The plastic content of the pack is less than 10 per cent. The label is also available in a cellulose version so that Completely plastic-free packaging possible are. The adhesive is only applied partially so that there is no contact with the products. The L 310 conveyor belt labeller is used for this packaging solution. It automatically seals the trays in a continuous flow and, with an output of up to 150 packs per minute, ensures that the sensitive food products are processed quickly and efficiently.

Both labellers and the L 310 and L 330 conveyor belt labellers can be quickly and easily adapted to different tray shapes and sizes without the need to change tools. In addition a zero downtime version available for uninterrupted operation as well as various automation options, such as destackers or product infeeds and outfeeds.

„With our complete solution from a single source, which includes labellers, trays and labels, we want to offer the fruit and vegetable industry completely plastic-free, resource-saving and energy-efficient packaging solutions. This means that companies can already fulfil the requirements of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) today.“
