With its nestable pallet design, the new NeRa plastic pallet from Tosca saves space and reduces damage, handling errors and transport costs in automated warehousing and distribution.
The nestable, rackable and stackable NeRa plastic pallet is designed to improve efficiency in the automated goods supply chain. According to the manufacturer, it is the first plastic pallet with SureFoot feet and has a patented PowerDeck-reinforced top side that minimises deformation caused by heavy loads. The new pallet is designed for static loads of up to 3,000 kg. According to Tosca This combination, both loaded and empty, enables optimum utilisation of space in the warehouse and can thus reduce the space requirement by 2.5 times compared to wooden solutions.
Its robust yet lightweight design reduces age-related deflection. The NeRa is therefore suitable for highly automated areas where sensitive products need to be protected from damage and cross-contamination, for example in the food supply chain when using heavy containers for drinks or dry goods such as sugar or flour. The stable and hygienic pallet can also be used for convenience products such as ready meals, in e-commerce and for packaged goods of all kinds where hygiene is an important factor.
„Although there are plastic pallets that can carry a similar weight to NeRa on a shelf, this strength and robustness is now available for the first time in a nestable pallet. Thanks to its robust construction and constant dimensions, NeRa is ideal for automated conveyor systems. These advantages are particularly evident when delivering goods on the ‚last mile‘ to the retailer.“ Jesse Sels, President EMEA at Tosca
Nestable plastic pallet saves space
NeRa-Plastic pallets offer considerable space savings due to their nesting capability. The pallets have a skidless design that halves the stacking height. This saves valuable storage space and ensures that around 660 more pallets fit into each return lorry. NeRa also has a comparatively low weight of just 18 kg, which means that more goods can be loaded into the lorry.
The NeRa pallets made from 100 per cent HDPE are germ-resistant and enable a cleaner overall operation, even with sensitive goods. They do not need to be heat-treated and generally save on cleaning time compared to wooden pallets. NeRa pallets are reusable, repairable and recyclable. According to Tosca, they can reduce waste during pallet disposal and produce 2.5 times less CO2 emissions than wooden pallets (based on a distance of 500 km and 100,000 journeys).

Green legs for safe navigation
Each NeRa plastic pallet has a standardised weight and size of 800 mm x 1200 mm x 157 mm. The wide SureFoot side feet ensure for seamless transfer via conveyor belts and can be replaced quickly and easily. Equipped with highly visible green legs, NeRa helps forklift truck drivers to safely navigate loaded pallets in high-bay racking.
NeRa pallets are only available for pooling and rental services. They are compatible with all standard conveyor roller spacings of 100 mm and 150 mm and fit in all common pallet racks, including drive-in configurations. They can be equipped with Tosca AssetIQ, an IoT service for the supply chain, which provides key data and insights into supply chain performance and enables Tosca's partners to realise efficiency gains and eliminate bottlenecks.
