Under the motto „Technology meets Digital“, the KraussMaffei Group is presenting pioneering industry solutions at this year's Fakuma. In this context, Netstal is presenting the Smart Operation control option.
The new operating philosophy enables a separation between application development and the subsequent operation of the machine in production. The user should benefit from a Simplified operation and further increases in the efficiency of its production systems. Visitors to Fakuma will be able to see the advantages of the new option for themselves at the ELIOS 4500, which will be running on the Netstal stand.

Guided and safe operation in production mode
The aXos control system continues to offer the usual high level of flexibility for programming a wide range of injection moulding applications. All processes can be defined flexibly and in line with the application by in-house experts.
With Smart Operation, the user is now provided with an innovative operating concept for productive use. This consists of four new buttons, the so-called Smart Buttons, as well as the preconfigurable dashboard on the main screen for displaying relevant process information, situation-specific interaction messages and application-specific work instructions. Smart Operation is based on the Concept of clearly defined machine states on.
With the newly added Smart Buttons the status transitions are triggered during productive use. This makes it possible, for example, to switch on the machine, prepare it for production and switch it to production status with just three keystrokes. Production can be ended and the machine switched off just as quickly, easily and safely. All conventional operating elements can be disabled to make operation in production as simple and safe as possible. The machine is then operated exclusively via the Smart Buttons.
„Smart Operation thus ensures guided and safe operation in the production environment. Standardised handling specifications based on in-house expert knowledge, such as GMP, are reliably anchored in the machine control system,“ emphasises Davatz.
The Operating concept remains with Smart Operation across all applications unchanged. Production employees are trained more quickly and can be deployed flexibly. The amount of written process descriptions, checklists and work instructions on the machine can be significantly reduced. „With Smart Operation, we provide our customers with sustainable support in achieving their efficiency targets with the lowest possible unit costs and consistent quality,“ concludes Davatz.
Smart Operation is now available as an option for all Netstal machines in the ELIOS and ELION series. Existing systems with aXos control can be retrofitted.
