On 1 January 2025, Dr Christine Maul will succeed Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Weyrich as Chairwoman of the VDI/VDE Society for Measurement and Automation Technology (GMA). The chemical engineer brings with her international experience and extensive expertise.
The VDI/VDE-The German Association for Measurement and Automation Technology has elected Dr Christine Maul as its new Chairwoman. Maul, currently Team Leader for Advanced Process Control at Covestro Deutschland AG, is taking on the role with the aim of Actively shaping the future of measurement and automation technology.
Maul can look back on a long career. After completing her studies and doctorate in the USA, she joined Bayer AG in 1994 and has since held various technical and management positions at Bayer and Covestro. Her professional specialisms include process control technology and the development of modern control technologies for production.
In addition to her professional activities, Maul has been involved in the VDI for many years. She has been a member of the GMA Executive Board and Advisory Board since 2019 and was previously part of the programme committee for the Automation Congress. Her Expertise in autonomous systems and sustainability is reflected in numerous projects and publications, including the future study „Automation 2035“, which is due to be published next year.

The VDI thanked Prof Weyrich for his commitment and achievements in the further development of measurement and automation technology. With Maul at the helm, the focus on innovation and international exchange will be further expanded.
