New degree programme in Food and Packaging Technology in Hanover

Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts is expanding its range of courses at the Ahlem campus with two new Bachelor's degree programmes: "Biotechnology and Environmental Technology" and "Future Food Systems - Food and Packaging Technology".

Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts is expanding its range of courses at the Ahlem campus for the winter semester 2025/26 to include two new Bachelor's degree programmes: „Biotechnology and Environmental Technology“ and „Future Food Systems - Food and Packaging Technology“. 

The new degree programmes are aimed at students with a passion for science, technology and sustainable development. They offer practical training with good career prospects in areas such as Environmental technology, bioeconomy, food production and packaging development.

Looking at food and packaging together

The new Bachelor's degree programme „Future Food Systems - Food Technology and Packaging Technology“ addresses the challenges of food production, food security, sustainable packaging systems and resource consumption. A unique feature of the degree programme is the integrated view of food and its packaging across the entire value chain - from raw materials through processing, trade and consumption to recycling.

Students acquire Engineering, technological, ecological and economic expertise and are prepared for practical work in production, technology, development, quality management or marketing. Areas of employment can be found primarily in the food industry, with packaging manufacturers, in plant construction or with authorities and associations.

Expertise in product recycling and the circular economy

The Biotechnology and Environmental Technology degree programme deals with current and future challenges in relation to sustainability, bioeconomy, food, environmental and resource protection, product quality and safety as well as digital transformation. Career prospects are available nationwide in the chemical industry, the food industry and the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors. Particularly in demand are Expertise in the circular economy, in sustainable biotechnological processes, in product recycling, in the use and treatment of waste streams and in the development of environmental technology solutions for production processes.

Both degree programmes are characterised by a Close integration of theory and practice out. This includes modern laboratories, interdisciplinary projects and close cooperation with industry. Students benefit from Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts' many years of expertise, particularly in the fields of dairy technology, packaging technology and bioprocess engineering.

Both degree programmes (degree: B.Eng.) are admission-free, Applications are still possible until 31 August.
