Eviosys introduces Ecopeel - a new can design for canned food. Cans are sealed with a smooth, peelable film.

Eviosys presents a new can design for canned food. Commercially available cans are sealed with a smooth, peelable film that directly seals the can body. According to the company, Ecopeel is lighter than other cans and reduces CO2-footprint.

Eviosys launches a new Combination product consisting of can and removable „Ecopeel“ lid a sustainable, inclusive and market-orientated packaging. Eviosys was the first company in the industry to develop a processable food can with a smooth, peelable film that is sealed directly onto the can body.

During the development of Ecopeel Sustainability, user-friendliness and inclusivity takes centre stage. The traditional ring-pull closure has been replaced by a film that is sealed directly onto the can. This makes Ecopeel lighter than other cans and enables CO2 savings of up to 20 per cent per can. This enables companies in the food industry to achieve their sustainability goals with Ecopeel.

The Ecopeel sealant was also developed to minimise the aspect of Inclusion and the reduction of food waste to convey. The 45° angle ensures that the can can be opened completely and with less effort. In addition, the smooth can body allows the contents to be poured out unhindered through the large opening, making it easier and better to handle.

Customer needs were at the centre of product development. Ecopeel reduces the complexity for customers, as the can is supplied with the film already sealed by Direct Heat Sealing and the brand manufacturers only have to fill and seal the can. In this way, Ecopeel speeds up the filling process for brand manufacturers fivefold and also makes it cleaner and safer, reducing spoilage and energy consumption. The peelable film lid offers opportunities for customisation, as brand logos and product images can be printed on the entire surface of the can.
