The General Association of the Aluminium Industry (GDA), Düsseldorf, has made important personnel decisions for the future at its general meeting. Dr Hinrich Mählmann (62), President of the GDA, was re-elected for a further three-year term of office. In addition, GDA Managing Director Marius Baader (47) was appointed by the GDA Executive Committee to succeed the outgoing Christian Wellner as Executive Member of the Executive Committee with effect from 1 October 2019.
The GDA General Assembly re-elected the following as Vice Presidents of the association Oliver Höll, CEO of the Alltub Group and in this function Managing Director of Karl Höll GmbH & Co. KG, Langenfeld and Roland Leder, Vice President Finance & CFO at Aleris Europe, Koblenz. He is also President of the WirtschaftsVereinigung Metalle, Berlin. In his office as Treasurer of the GDA Thomas Reuther, member of the Executive Board of TRIMET Aluminium SE, Essen, was confirmed.
Dr Hinrich Mählmann has been a personally liable partner of OTTO FUCHS KG, Meinerzhagen, since 2008. In addition to these functions, he is operationally responsible for sales at OTTO FUCHS KG. Dr Hinrich Mählmann has been active on GDA committees in various functions for many years.
Marius Baader is the successor to Christian Wellner, who worked for the aluminium industry associations for 37 years, including 30 years in management positions and at the head of the GDA. He is now retiring. Marius Baader has known the aluminium industry and GDA for many years. After completing his studies, he began his professional career at GDA in 2002 as Head of Market and Statistics. He then moved to the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) in Berlin in 2007. He held several management positions there and was most recently Head of the Suppliers, SMEs and Start-ups department. He has been Managing Director of GDA since 1 April 2019 and has since taken the opportunity to familiarise himself with all topics.
