New production facility for labels

CCL Industries has opened a production facility in northern Italy that will supply the local wine and spirits industry with labelling solutions.

CCL Industries, a leading provider of labelling and packaging solutions, has opened a new production facility in Novi Ligure, northern Italy. This will mainly supply the local wine and spirits industry with high-quality and sustainable labelling solutions.

CCL Industries is expanding its presence in the region with the opening of a new production facility in northern Italy. The plant in Novi Ligure will primarily Premium labels for the wine and spirits industry and use finishes such as holographic effects, personalised designs and interactive labels. Reinhard Streit, Vice President and Managing Director Food & Beverage at CCL, sees great potential in supplying world-famous brands locally.

The new production facility will Self-adhesive labels which have been specially developed for use in the wine and spirits industry. According to Streit, high-quality labels help to emphasise products on the shelf and increase sales. The focus on sustainability is also particularly important: CCL offers labels with recyclable designs, innovative adhesives and recycled content. Barbara Chittaro, Business Development Wine & Spirits Italy, emphasises that the new labelling solutions will help the fulfil the requirements of the future EU regulation on packaging and packaging waste (PPWR) are to be realised.

In addition to production, the new plant offers comprehensive pre- and post-sales support by utilising CCL's international production network. The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including an art department with its own ink kitchen as well as energy-efficient and renewable technologies such as solar panels and advanced air conditioning. Specialised unwinding and rewinding systems are designed to Waste volumes minimised and production efficiency can be increased.

This is CCL Food & Beverage's second production facility in Italy. Last year, the company acquired a pouch manufacturing plant from the Capri-Sun Group, which produces flexible film materials, including recyclable monomaterial solutions.
